It's a tradition to watch them all every Christmas Eve. I agree with much of your assessment's of the films. Alistair Sim is second to none and his support cast just could NOT get any better whereas the 1938 version can be a little "unconvincing". I really enjoyed watching Seymour Hicks in the 1935 version but, like you said, the picture quality was just too dark and seemed a bit rushed. George C. Scott was just a great actor and brought so much to the role..I just liked Sim's better. Now, I know many would disagree with me on this next film but Jim Carey's animated version is just fantastic. Most of us over 50 have had a hard time with some movies just BECAUSE they're animated but the incredible High Definition in these animated movies today is just mind-boggling. Jim Carey's talent, combined with this technology makes his version, truly, one of the best and although nothing could ever match Sim's version this one really deserves to become a classic !
