Can You Imagine Opening Your Favorite Magazine and...

I received the following advertisements in an e-mail from my sister.
At the time - 1960's and early 1970's - virtually no one gave them a second glance, unless they were interested in the product.

Looking back at them from the point of view of the 21st century, one almost (I must stress almost) cringes at the sight of some of 'em. It really was a different world - and to think they are all from my lifetime!

Either way, they are fun to look at and at the same time hard to believe...........

Some excerpts from the ad above: It says- “this young man is 11 months old- and he isn’t our youngest customer by any means. For 7-Up is so pure, so wholesome, you can even give it to babies and feel good about it. -By the way, Mom, when it comes to toddlers- if they like to be coaxed to drink their milk, try this: Add 7-Up to the milk in equal parts, pouring the 7-Up gently into the milk. It’s a wholesome combination- and it works! Now we know the origins of ADHD......

lol. "Blow in her face and she'll follow you anywhere", how hilarious! Santa smokes Lucky Strikes? Who knew? Thanks for posting this, it made my evening. :-)

It's no wonder we are where we are today...very scarey actually that these Ads were even allowed.

Glad you liked 'em Paris - I laughed out loud!
Beth - it was a different time and these ads represent those times.
This is why I enjoy social history so much - and I never thought of a time that I had lived through as being "history" - now THAT's scary!

Funny, yet hard to believe these notions existed in my lifetime! Some things have not changed for the better, but I'm sure glad these kind of ads no longer exist! :-)
